The Association for Monument Research is a non-profit organization that was founded at the beginning of 2014 to support the work of the research group on contemporary monuments. Its members are academics working on similar topics, as well as politically interested people. The purpose of the Association is to “promote scholarship and research as well as art and culture by scientifically researching monuments from the standpoint of history and the history of art and making the results of this research available to the general public” (Statutes of the Association). The Association discusses the work of the research group as well as general questions of public memory policy. It organizes lectures, supports publication of research results, and assists in obtaining donations.
